The Great Outdoors

Appreciate nature from three breathtaking perspectives at the world famous Capilano Suspension Bridge. Traverse the seven bridges of Treetops Adventure and experience the thrilling Cliffwalk, a heart-stopping journey along the granite cliff high above Capilano River. Complimentary shuttle service departs daily from 9:00am across the street from Fairmont Waterfront at Canada Place.

Located in the heart of historic Chinatown, the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden is an authentic representation of Ming Dynasty era tradition and host to a registered museum, cultural programming, and rotating exhibitions. Be enchanted by the winding paths, koi pond, pagoda and lush plants. Just next door, the complementing Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Park is a free extension of the Garden where visitors can explore the ornate details of classical Chinese garden design.

Rising above the sparkling cityscape, Grouse Mountain isn’t known as the Peak of Vancouver for nothing! Come for the views but stay to visit Coola and Grinder, resident Grizzly bears within the wildlife refuge, and the impressive performances of the daily world-famous Lumberjack Show. Get an adrenaline boost while ziplining across peaks and canyons, scaling the Mountain Ropes Adventure course, or tackling the imposing Grouse Grind hiking trail.

Explore 1,000 acres of natural West Coast rainforest in Stanley Park, where scenic views of the water and mountains await along every bend of the famous Seawall. This sprawling park also offers multiple beaches, tennis courts and playgrounds. Take a ride on a horse-drawn carriage tour or bring the little ones aboard the unique miniature locomotive that travels along 2km of train tracks through trestles, tunnels, and forest.

The VanDusen Botanical Garden is a nature lover’s paradise and a serene place to unwind in Vancouver’s historical Shaughnessy district. This 55 acre oasis boasts over 8,000 plant species from around the world, picturesque lakes and waterfalls, stunning sculptures, and an Elizabethan hedge maze. Make sure to check the bloom calendar before your visit to see which flowers are blooming this season.

After scenic drive to nearby Squamish, a ride on the Sea to Sky Gondola is a must. Soar 2,900 feet above sea level for access to viewing platforms of the unparalleled landscape, walking trails, and the remarkable Sky Pilot Suspension bridge. Activities include interpretive tours for the whole family and yoga classes that will revive you from the inside out.

Looking for the hidden gem you’ll want to tell all your friends about? Our bet is that you’ll find it in Gastown. Notable for the charming late-Victorian architecture and distinctive Steam Clock, these quaint cobblestone streets are also lined with noteworthy eateries, boutique shops, and galleries showcasing the talents of local artists.

Nestled on its own waterfront peninsula, Granville Island is an industrial hub-turned-cultural district that is not to be missed. Explore the gourmet food stalls within the Public Market, stop by one of the city’s most popular breweries, or catch a show at one of the many theatres. There’s even a dedicated Kids Market with a play area, arcade, and bumper cars.

From BC Place Stadium at its east end to Stanley Park at its west, every step down Robson Street will bring you something new. This is one of the city’s most historic commercial streets and best-known shopping districts. Visit the first-ever outdoor summer pop-up market every Saturday for live music, food trucks, and interactive games.

Heritage meets modern in the chic warehouse district of Yaletown. Quirky local stores are tucked in among residential lofts and trendy restaurant patios spill onto the brick walkways. Some of the city’s most beautiful waterfront green spaces are just steps away – the perfect place to spread a picnic blanket and take in the beauty of False Creek in the summer sunshine.

Shopaholic rejoice! Luxurious shopping and premium retailers including Nordstrom, Holt Renfrew, H&M, Apple, Artizia, and many more await at Pacific Centre Mall. Stop by the food court for a quick bite or dine in Bistro Verde, a full service restaurant and bar located inside Nordstrom.

Galleries and Museums

The Museum of Anthropology is place of beauty and serenity that showcases collections from around the world, with a special emphasis on our local First Nations communities. Visit the museum’s Haida House this summer for the all-encompassing Sanctuary: The Dakota Bear Ancient Forest Experience, where you’ll enter into the heart of a forest that has exist since the last Ice Age.

Ignite your curiosity and discover the wonders of science and technology at Science World. No matter your age, prepare to be mind-blown by the interactive indoor and outdoor exhibits and live science demonstrations. Learn the story of the world’s northernmost biome with current exhibition Arctic Voices, where you will learn how strong you are compared to a polar bear, take a garden tour of the Arctic, and hear stories from Indigenous peoples and Arctic Researchers.

The largest public art museum in western Canada is housed in a stunning neoclassical courthouse in downtown Vancouver. Spend an afternoon browsing impactful works from respected artists in the permanent and rotating exhibits at the Vancouver Art Gallery. Don’t forget to stop by the Gallery Store for uniquely Canadian goods you won’t find anywhere else.

Wander amongst larger-than-life work of one of the world’s most well-known artists at Imagine Van Gogh. Located inside the expansive Vancouver Convention Centre, this immersive experience takes you through a unique journey chronicling more than 200 of Vincent Van Gogh’s paintings accompanied by the music of great composers.

Ready to try your wand – er, hand – at the wizarding world? Wings and Wizards is a self-guided, touch-free interactive exhibit that merges world-building, art, tech, storytelling, and design that results in a truly magical experience for all ages. The Wizard’s Academy and Enchanted Forest will leave you spellbound!
